state all the exceptions to the general trend of atomic radius with reasons.

Dear Student,

In periodic table the general trend of atomic radii decreases from left to right across the period and the reason is of increasing number of electrons in parallel with increase of positive charge in nucleus, addition of valence electron in the atom results in increase from top to bottom across the group. When comes to noble gas their atoms are influenced by vander waals force results in increased atomic radii on comparing with halogens which is influenced by covalent bonds, in final the radii decrease from left to right till group 17 and increases on group 18.

Regards.
