State any three chracterstic features of parenchyma longitudinal section

Parenchyma are permanent tissues that do not generally divide further. These classified as simple tissues having all cells similar in structure and function.The cells of the parenchyma may have spherical, oval, round, elongated or polygonal in shape. Their walls are thin and made up of cellulose, they may be closely packed or have small intercellular spaces. They performs various functions like storage, photosynthesis, secretion etc. Two types of parenchyma cells are xylem parenchyma and phloem parenchyma.
