State the principle of measurement of a physical quantity.

For the measurement of a physical quantity, a constant quantity is considered as a standard and then the number is searched which expresses how many times the standard quantity is contained in the physical quantity. The standard quantity is called the unit.
Eg. if length of a rod is 5 m , it means that the unit of length is the metre and this unit is contained 5 times in the length of that rod.
