the agony of separation is brought forward in this poem very explicitly. answer with respect to the poem my mother at 66

Dear student,

The fear of separation has been with the poet since childhood as she dreads it. While driving to the airport with her mother beside her, the stark reality of her mother's old age and poor health faces her: she is frail and pale 'like a corpse'. She is pained by the probability that she may never see her mother again. Even the setting of an airport is befitting to the theme of separation and agony!

Regards
