The final stanza in the poem 'the Road not taken' starts 'with a sigh'. why?

It was a sigh of relief symbolising that finally the poet has taken his decision.

In the final stanza we find that the poem ends with a sigh. It is because the speaker was in a dilemma after choosing one of the roads. He did not know where the road that he has chosen, will lead to in the future. He was not sure whether it would bring good fortune and make him happy or bring some misfortune for which he will have to repent afterward. In any decision taken in life we can only hedge our bets by thinking we can always come back and try a different option later. However, sometimes our choices take us to other consequences and it's impossible for us to go back over our steps and arrive back at that unique place.

The poet was not sure about the success of his choice. He thought he might regret about his decision of travelling on the second road and he might tell about it with a sigh. He again talked about the two roads from which he selected the one which was less travelled and the choice made all the difference in his life.

He sighs because he was not sure of weather his decision of taking the grassy road would lead him to success or failure. So if he succeeds he will sigh a sigh of relief or if he fails he will sigh a sigh of regret.
