i. The first step of this process is preparation of Water gas (CO + H2).
C + H2O → CO + H2
ii. Water gas shift reaction: Water gas is reacted with more of steam within a temperature range of 450 to 500oC to form a mixture of carbon dioxide and hydrogen gas.
CO + H2O + H2 → CO2 + 2H2
