Let the 8 numbers be x1, x2, x3, x4, , x8 It is given that, mean of 8 numbers = 15 $\Rightarrow \frac{x_{1} + x_{2} + + x_{8}}{8} = 15 \Rightarrow x_{1} + x_{2} + x_{8} = 120$ According to the given condition, when each number is multiplied by 2, i e , 2x1 + 2x2 + + 2x8 = 2 (x1 + x2 + + x8) = 2 Ã— 120 = 240 $∴ New mean = \frac{2 x_{1} + 2 x_{2} + 2 x_{8}}{8} = \frac{240}{8} = 30$
