The parallel sides of a trapezium are in the ratio 1 2 the perpendicular distance between these sides is 100 cm if its area is 300 cm^2 find the length of the parallel sides

Dear Student,

Let   the   length   of   first   parallel   side ,   a   =   x   cm and length   of   second   parallel   side ,   b   =   2  x   cm  Height ,   h   =   100   cm  area   of   trapezium   =   300  cm2 Area of trapezium = 12(a+b)h300 =  12(x+2x)100300 = 50 × 3x3x = 300503x = 6 x= 2 cmTherefore, a = x = 2cm and b = 2x = 2(2) = 4 cm
