The present type and levels of development are not sustainable,as warned by the scientist. Justify.
The present types and levels of development as warned by the scientists are not sustainable because:
1. The present types and levels of development are meant only for fulfilling the selfish needs and desires of human beings.They are not eco-friendly which has given rise to serious problems like global warming,environmental pollution,depletion of ozone layer etc.
2.Moreover, such development has forced human beings to overuse or exploit resources in an injudicious manner. This has led to the depletion of many valuable resources and created problem for the future generation to survive.The present need of the hour is sustainable development which emphasises in meeting the presents needs without compromising the needs of the future generation. Minerals like coal, petroleum, iron ore are indiscriminately exploited by the present generation without paying any heed to the fact that these resources are non- renewable and if these gets exhausted than future generation will have to suffer.Thus, sustainable development can only bring a balanced type of development required for us today.
