Let the number be x According to the question, $x^{2} + x = \frac{63}{4}$ â‡’ $4 x^{2} + 4 x - 63 = 0$ $∴ x = \frac{- 4 \pm \sqrt{16 - 4 (4) (- 63))}}{2 (4)} \Rightarrow x = \frac{- 4 \pm \sqrt{1024}}{8} \Rightarrow x = \frac{- 4 \pm 32}{8}$ $∴ x = \frac{28}{8} o r x = \frac{- 36}{8} \Rightarrow x = \frac{7}{2} o r x = \frac{- 9}{2}$ Thus, the number can be $\frac{7}{2}$ or $\frac{- 9}{2}$ Cheers!!!
