The barriers to communication that are concerned with the state of mind of both the sender as well as the receiver are psychological factors. Three such barriers to communication are as follows:
 

• Preconceived notions: At times due to preconceived notions an individual might derive conclusion even before the information is concluded. 
• Lack of trust: In case the sender and the receiver do not trust each other the message may not be perceived in correct sense. 
• Poor retention: In case the communication passes through a number of phases there may be loss of information/communication
