IMPORTANCE OF FAMILY IN MODERN TIMES
The dictionary meaning of the word 'Family' is a group consisting of parents and their children living together as a unit. Members of family should have unconditional love and extend support, guidance and help to one another. A happy family will be able to succeed and achieve a greater sense of belonging and acceptance.
In earlier times, there was joint family system in which two or three generations lived together adhering to certain values and customs. Gradually, with the socio-economic changes, the joint families disappeared and the nuclear families evolved.
Even in modern times, parents try to inculcate family values in their children. As the children grow, in their efforts to keep abreast with the changing scenario, they lose track of their roots. Slowly, they drift away from parents and do not pay attention to their advice. Repeated reminders by parents are not taken by children in the right spirit. This sort of generation gap is a universal phenomenon. Parents and children should make a conscious effort to bridge this gap by resorting to simple steps like having dinner and spending quality time together. Even in the modern times, the family values matter because they improve the standard of life resulting in a better society and a better nation.
