Three similarities between himalayan rivers and peninsular river?

Himalayan and Peninsular rivers have different sources and courses. Yet there are a few similarities other than providing water, transport and water for irrigation.

1. Most of the rivers of both the Himalayan and Peninsular systems drain into the Bay of Bengal and only a few flow westwards into the Arabian Sea.

2. The rivers have hydro-electric projects along their courses.

3. While Peninsular rivers are only rain-fed, the Himalayan rivers receive water from both rains and the melting of ice in the glaciers.

  • All the major rivers of both the areas flow eastwards and drain into Bay of Bengal.
  • They all provide huge opportunities for hydroelectic power generation.
  • Both of them receive water from the rain but Himalayan rivers also receive water for Glaciers.
