valency of carbon in CH4 , C2H6 , C2H4 , C2H2 ???

The valency of any element never changes. In CH4 and C2H6, carbon forms single bonds. In C2H4, carbon forms 1 double bond ( it shares 2 electrons). In C2H2, carbon forms 1 triple bond ( it shares 3 electrons).

You will study this in Chapter 4 in class X. I hope this cleared your doubts.

the correct answer is ch4 - 4

c2h6 - 3

c2h4 - 2

c2h2 - 1

ch4 consist with valency 4 and hydrogen 1

c2h6 --ch3 now carbon's valancy is 3

c2h4--ch2 valency is 2

and lass its is 1
