What amount of work is done by the planets moving around the sun?

  the work done by planets moving around sun is 0 (approx)
this is because if we consider the path to be circular then the angle between force (towards centre) and displacement(tangent)  is 90. 
i.e. centripetal force.
W= FS cos90 
    =FS 0 (cos90=0 )
