Blastogenic variations are the variations that occurs in genes. They are passed from parents to offsprings. For example, sickle-celled anaemia.

They are of two types:
  1. Continuous variations: These variations are small, gradual changes. For example, changes in colour, size, shape, weight of body etc.
  2. Discontinuous variation: These are the large and sudden changes without any intermediate stage. ​ For example, Blood group, eye colour etc.
