what are characteristic of synthetic fibre

Dear student, Synthetic fibers are made from synthesized polymers or small molecules. The compounds that are used to make these fibers come from raw materials such aspetroleumbased chemicals or petrochemicals. These materials are polymerized into a long, linear chemical that bond two adjacent carbon atoms. Differing chemical compounds will be used to produce different types of fibers. Although there are several different synthetic fibers, they generally have the same common properties. Generally, they are known for being:- 1. Heat-sensitive 2. Resistant to most chemicals 3. Resistant to insects, fungi and rot. 4. Low moisture absorbency 5. Electrostatic 6. Flame resistant 7. Density or specific gravity 8. May pill easily 9. Low melting temperature 10. Often less expensive than natural fibers. 11. Easy to wash and maintain. Advantages:- 1. Synthetic fibers do not depend either on an agricultural crop or on animal farming. 2. They are generally cheaper than natural fiber. 3. Synthetic fibers possess unique characteristics which make them popular dress material. 4. They dry up quickly, are durable, readily available and easy to maintain. Disadvantages:- 1. Synthetic fibers burn more readily than natural 2. Prone to heat damage, they melt relatively easily 3. Prone to damage by hot washing 4. More electrostatic charge is generated by rubbing than with natural fibres. Thanks and regards.
