INSECTIVOROUS PLANTS ARE THE PLANTS WHICH GET THEIR ENERGY BY CONSUMING INSECTS.
EXAMPLES:PITCHER PLANT,SUNDEW PLANT,VENUS FLY TRAP ETC.
THESE PLANTS CAN ALSO CARRY OUT PHOTOSYNTHESIS BUT EAT INSECTS AS THEY NEED SOME NITROGENOUS PRODUCTS WHICH ARE LOW OR COMPLETELY VOID OF NUTRIENTS IN THE SOIL.THAT'S WHY THEY CONSUME INSECTS.

Insectivorous plantslike Venus fly trap, Pitcher plant etc. generally grow in low marshy areas where the nutrient specially nitrogen content is very less and the quality of soil is poor. To fulfill the requirements of nutrients of their body they consume insects.
These plants trap the insects and digest them by secreting some enzymes and obtain the nutrients from their body.
For example
pitcher plant
venus flytrap
sundews
bladderwort
waterwheel
