What are microbe - specific medicines ? Why are they called so ?

Dear student,
Please find below the answer:

Microbe-specific medicines mean all the medicines which are given to treat diseases caused by particular microbes. For example, Antibiotics are a group of microbe- specific medicines that are given to treat diseases caused by bacteria only, Antiviral drugs are given to treat infections or diseases caused by viruses, Antifungal medicines are given to treat disease caused by fungus etc.

Hope this clears your doubt.
Regards.
