what are peptide and steroid hormones

Peptide hormones and steroid hormones are the classes of hormones on the basis of their chemical nature.

Peptide hormones (proteins and peptide) are synthesised from chains of amino acids. For example: Insulin, etc.

Steroid hormones are synthesised from cholestrol.For example: estrogen, testosterone etc

Their mechanism of action of also differ. Peptide hormones interact with membrane-bound receptors , whereas steroid hormones interact with intracellular receptors.
