What are sex chromosomes?

X and Y chromosome are known as sex chromosome. In humans, there are 22 pairs of autosome (somatic chromosome), and 1 pair of allosome (sex chromosome). Sex chromosome determines the gender of an offspring. XX is for female, and XY is for male.
