what are sundarbans ? why are they so called ?

sunderban is the largest delta in the world which is also refered as ganga-bramhaputra delta . it is called so because it is home to the species of a tree callec 'sundari'.

~~Sundarban is the largest delta in India. The Sundarbans are a part of the world's largest delta formed by the rivers Ganges, Brahmaputra and Meghna. They are vast tract of forest and saltwater swamp forming the lower part of the Ganges Delta, extending about 260 km along the Bay of Bengal from the Hooghly River Estuary in India to the Meghna River Estuary in Bangladesh. Sunderban covers an area of 4262 sq. km in India. Sunderbans are called so due to the presence of mangrove trees called 'Sundari'.

because of the presence of the mangrove trees in a very large number i.e.sundari trees, the forest is called sundarbans
