What are the advantages and disadvantages of self pollination and cross pollination

Advantages of self-pollination-
1. It helps to maintain the parental characters.
2. There is no need of large number of pollen grains.
Disadvantages of self-pollination-
1. Flowers should be bisexual.
2. New characters cannot be introduced.
Advantages of cross pollination are:-
1. It gives multitude of features.
2. The genes have a larger chance of survival if a disease hits.
Disadvantages of cross pollination are:-
1. Cross pollination is slower when compared to self pollination.
2. The natural process of pollination becomes delayed in this case.
