What are the criteria for selecting organism to perform crosses to study the inheritance of a few traits ?

Criteria for selecting organism to perform crosses to study the inheritance of a few traits are given below:

• If plants are being selected for studying inheritance like Mendel took pea plants, then those plants should be selected which have simple pollination process.
• The traits needed to be studied should be easily visible.
• Both parents should have different traits.
• They should have a short life span like pea plant.
• Mostly breeders prefers Homozygous breeds i.e. true breeds.
• The traits can be manipulated easily.
