1. Used as packing materials. Used for packing bulbs, cuttings and seedling for shipment.
2. Used as absorbent bandages in place of cotton in hospitals.
3. Used in Seed beds as they have high capacity to absorb and hold water.
4. Ecological importance: They were the pioneers in establishing vegetation. They help in depositing humus and prevents soil erosion.
5. Species of Sphagnum, a moss provides peat that is used as fuel.
