what are the layers of atmosphere explain the layers

Dear Student

The different layers of the earth's atmosphere are:

1. Troposphere:
The troposphere is the lowest layer, extending from 0 to 12 km above the earth's surface. This is the layer where water vapour is found and hence, controls the earth's atmosphere.

2. Stratosphere: The stratosphere is the second layer of the atmosphere, extending from 12 to 50 km above the earth's surface. It contains the ozone layer, which prevents the sun's harmful ultra-violet rays from reaching earth.

3. Mesosphere: It extends from 50 to 80 km above the earth's surface. This layer contains the highest clouds in the atmosphere.

4. Thermosphere: It is second highest layer, which extends from 80 to 700 km above the earth's surface. This layer is completely cloudless and free of water vapour.

5. Exosphere: It is the highest layer in the atmosphere, extending from 700 to 10000 km above the earth's surface.
