What are the relation of weight of an object mass m on the moon and on the earth??

Dear Student,
Mass is the measure of the amount of matter in a body whereas Weight is the measure of the amount of force acting on a mass due to the acceleration due to gravity.
• Relation between weight of an object on moon and weight of an object on earth:
The weight of an object is the gravitational force acting on it. Since, the gravitational force of the moon is 1/6th of earth because the mass and radius of the earth is 6 times more than the mass and radius of the moon, so the acceleration due gravity which will act on any object on earth will be 6 times more than it will act upon the object on moon. The weight of an object on moon is also 1/6th as compared to its weight on earth.
If the mass of an object on earth is 'm' then the mass of that object will be same on moon i.e. 'm' because mass is a physical quantity of an object which is independent of gravitational force. Hence, it will remain same irrespective of planet.
