What are the resons that annoy Doris and Cyril ?

They are literally horrified to see thier mom sitting on the dinning table and smoking. Doris feels outraged when her mom call Charlie Spence a dim-witted man, and refuses to prepare tea/supper or iron her dress.

Cyril gets agitated when his mom refuses to make tea and denies all his requests, telling him to go and do it himself rather than annoying others.

Both expect their mother, Mrs Pearson, to do the household work. Doris is quite annoyed to see that there was no tea ready and her mother had not ironed her yellow silk, which she was supposed to wear for a date with Charlie Spence, whome Mrs Fitzgerald, in the form of Mrs Pearson, calls dim-witted. She is also shocked to see her mother smoking and playing cards.
When Cyril comes home and asks for tea, he is shocked to find out that his mother hadn't made any, nor had she looked through his things to check if they needed mending. Both are annoyed by the way the mother behaves, and equally shocked when she asks for stout. In the words of Doris, it was not what she said that hurt her, but the way she said it.

Hope you like this answer. This is all I could remember

It's because those lazy and ignorant kids wanted their mom to work like slave, she denied and took care of herself.....
