What are the sources of income of Gram Panchayat?

Gram Panchayat is a local governing body at the village level whose position was strengthened during the British rule however it became weak after independence .
Each and every Gram Panchayat has its own funds however the main source of income are the taxes collected from :
1. land and houses
2.Transport and communication
3.Toll tax
4.Custom duty
Even the money is collected from schools, hospitals ,dispensaries, markets and other business like animal trade etc.
They also get various funds from state government and Zila Parishad at district level. In addition to this they can take loan from central government and other financial organisations .Any type of entry fee, a property taken on lease or mortgage have to give certain amount as sub-tax to the Gram panchayat.
