Rinderpest is an infectious viral disease caused by Paramyxovirus.
It affects the ruminants, especially cattle.
Although it does not infect humans, but its effect on cattle and other animals causes great economic loss.

Symptoms of rinderpest may include:
- rapid breathing
- reduced milk production in cows
- grain-like bumps in the nostrils, inside the lips and cheeks that often develop into ulcer.
- fever
- loss of appetite
- discharge of watery mucus from eyes and nostrils, occasionally including blood
- constipation
- diarrhoea
- death within 6-10 days after signs appear
Rinderpest is generally spread by direct contact with an infected animal or its body fluids. However, it can also be spread by contaminated equipment and clothing.
