What are the threats faced by the iron and steel industries in India.
Dear student,
The threats faced by iron and steel industries in India are:
(a) High costs and limited availability of coking coal - Lots of processing are required to be done in order to produce a high quality of pig iron which involves high cost.
(b) Lower productivity of labour - Inefficient management and frequent lockout, strikes lead to under utilisation of labour and thus decreases the productivity.
(c) Irregular supply of energy - Due to infrastructural inefficiencies of India, frequent electricity breakouts takes place which disturbs the pace of work and resulting in delay in processing of steel and iron.
(d) Poor technology - Obselete technology led to inferior quality of products that are unable to compete in this competitive world
Regards
