What are the various DNA separation techniques?

Main technique used to separate DNA is gel electrophoresis.

Gel electrophoresis is a tried-and-true technique used for the separation of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), ribonucleic acid (RNA) or protein molecules using an electric current applied to a gel matrix. 

Other techniques like southern blotting is used to detect specific sequence of DNA in DNA sample.
