What are transition elements?
Dear Student,
Transition elements are defined as those elements which have partially filled d-orbitals either in their ground state or in one or more of their oxidation states. Their properties lie between s-block elements and p-block elements. They are generally d-block elements. They are more electropositive than p-block elements but less electropositive than s-block elements. They are all metals and have electronic configuration ns 2 (n-1)d 1-10 Example is Manganese,Iron, etc.
NOTE:Group 12 (Zinc ,Cadmium and Mercury) are not considered transition elements
