When narrator looks out of the car window to avoid the glance of
her mother's dull,old and wrinkled face she saw many young trees on
the roadside and children merrily coming out of their house to play
They both are in contrast with narrator's mother who is old,weak
and dull lady who was near the end of her life while these
childrenand trees were young,full of energy and enthusiasm
