what could have been the reason behind people from far away land settling in india

Throughout history, people from far away lands in central and west Asia has settled in India. The reasons for this are

1. India has a relatively more hospitable environment than western and central Asia. The weather in India is not as cold as central Asia and not as hot as west Asia. Therefore, it offers a more conducive environment for people to live which attracted people from far off lands.

2. The land in India is far more fertile than in central and west Asia. Central and western Asia are largely deserts due to scanty rainfall. In contrast, India has abundant rainfall and large rivers. As a result, agricultural productivity is very high which ensured a relatively higher standard of living for people in historical times when agriculture was the main source of livelihood. The prospect of enjoying a higher standard of living attracted people to India.

3. The high agricultural surplus in India was able to support a strong network of trading and manufacturing (like cotton textile manufacturing in cottage industries). The Indian economy was therefore diverse and relatively more prosperous. This attracted people to India. They either wanted to participate in the trade with India to become rich or loot the wealth of India by lanching attacks.
