What do we learn about the crofter's nature from the story ' the rattrap'?

The crofter was an old man without a family due to which he was happy to get someone to talk to in his loneliness. He was a generous host and also generous about his confidences, hence he told the vagabond about the thirty kroner without thinking of the consequences.

The crofter's nature was very humble and open-hearted. He was living all alone without his family and by seeing someone at the door, he was happy and delighted as know he had got a company. Even though the person was a random vagabond who was selling rattraps, the crofter with his kindhearted nature told him about the three ten kronor he earned and kept it back in the pouch in front of his eyes.
