What does the story highlight about the esence of true happiness and the sence of fulfillment through Dr.Andrew's experience?

The visit to the Morgans had left Andrew with a sense of exhilaration because he had risen above pettiness to answer the call of duty and successfully accomplished a seemingly impossible task. His task of bringing a baby back to life who had been given up for dead gave him the sense of fulfilment in his work and true happiness. It reawakened him to the power and potential that he had as a doctor, one who can actually save lives and make a difference through his work. To have done something selflessly with such grit and determination, led to Andrew feeling a sense of satisfaction and happiness that he had not achieved earlier. As Andrew was walking back with the few miners going home from their night shift, he felt exhausted and tired but he kept thinking blindly, 'I've done something' oh, God! I've done something real at last.' He was oblivious to all the other work that he had done previously, it had only resulted in a dullness and listlessness. But this gruelling task of rising above petty difficulties and aiding in the process of giving life to baby seemed to have finally made him feel worthy of his life and profession. The story shows us that it is important to keep going,to accomplish every deed no matter what adversities that face us.It is only when we do this that we realize the significance of the power that has been given to us as thinking and working human beings.
