what effect does eutrophication have on BOD and DO of a waterbody?

Dear student,
Eutrophication is the enrichment of excessive nutrient in the water bodies which causes loss of oxygen and and growth of algal bloom. Algae decomposing bacteria grows which utilises dissolved oxygen in the water body and thus lead to increase in the biological oxygen demand (BOD). Biological oxygen demand is the requirement of oxygen by the microorganism to decompose organic matter due to which dissolved oxygen decreases in the water body.
