What favour did the narrator do for the boys? What trait of his character is revealed here?

Dear student,

The narrator drove the young boys’ up to the country, Poleta 30 kilometres away. This shows that the narrator is helpful in nature, and also that he did not wish to disappoint the boys by saying no. Therefore, even though his driver Luigi would not be there, he decided to drive them to the country.

Regards

since the narrator had given the driver an off, he themselves drove the boys to Poleta. later, the narrator didn't ask the boys about what the nurse told him about their past. he wanted the boys to think they had safely kept their secret.
