It is wasted then. So, rain water harvesting should be done:-

1. Tanks, step wells are made on roof tops to store rain water.

2. Pipes from these tanks are connected to a chamber which is usually pit layered with sand and gravels.

3. The water get cleaned in these chambers and is then stored in a pit tanks for usage.
