What has happened to the cultivable land over the years in the states which first adopted green revolution?

Over the years, cultivable land in the states which first adopted green revolution has declined due to intensive cultivation over the years. This has required increased use of chemical fertilizers in these states. There has also been an increase in the salt content of the soil due to increased use of irrigation.
