Solar eclipse is the eclipse of the sun. It happens when the moon comes in between the earth and the sun in a straight line. The sun is partially or completely blocked by the moon. Solar eclipse can occur during a new moon only.

Lunar eclipse is the phenomenon in which earth comes in between moon and sun and so prevents sunlight from reaching the moon and therefore we cannot see the moon(in complete lunar eclipse).
