What is Branching descent???

Branching descent is one of the two key concepts used by Darwin to explain his theory of evolution. (the other concept being natural selection) Branching descent is defined as the process of formation of new species from a common ancestor. It means that from all the offsprings of a species some species some may vary significantly from the others or get adopted to a different environment and thus form a new species. Some offsprings of this new species might form other species and so on. This process of formation of many different species from a common ancestor is called branching descent. Hope this is helpful
