In a mature oocyte, corona radiata is the glycoprotein memebrane surrounding the plasma membrane of the oocyte and corona radiata is a layer outside zona pellucida and attched to it. It consists of 2-3 layers of follicular cells adhering to the oocyte before it leaves the ovarian follicle.
Corona radiata - suppy protiens to the cell.
Zona Pellucida - required for acrosome reaction and prevention of fertilization of the ovum with sperm of any other species.
