what is deplating? how is it useful?

Deplating is the process in which some metal which is present as a layer above the other metal is removed from it.
Usually the process of electrolysis is used for deplating of the metal.
Uses:
Both the metals can be recovered in such a form that they can be reused again, hence it is a very economic process and hence helps in recovery of the metal in the usable form.
