What is difference between distance and displacement are same thing ?????

DISTANCE - It is a length of a actual path traversed by a body between its initial and final position ,it is a scalar quantity.

DISPLACEMENT-It is the shortest distance [straight line] between initial and final position,it is a vector quantity.
