What is electrolyte in the case of refining of NaCl
What is present at Anode in the same case

Dear student,
a) In the electrolysis of NaCl , the electrolyte used is NaCl itself since in electrolytic refining the metal salt is taken as an electrolyte.
b) The  anode is positively charged electrode hence it will attract negative ions. So, Cl- ions will be accumulated at anode and forms Cl2 gas.

Electrolyte is H2SO4 At anode chlorine

Hi Khushi ,
An electrolyte is a liquid which is used in electrolysis for he ease of the conduction of electric current as well as the ions.
In case of electrodes IMG of NaCl the electrolyte is H2O. At anode chlorine is deposited and at cathode hydrogen also in the aques solution sodium hydroxide is present. This is also called chlor alkali process.
