What is electrophilic effect

Dear student,

In general, Electrophilicity is the property of being electrophile. An electrophile is an electron-deficient reagent which seeks electron density, they are either positively charged species or neutral species which are electron deficient in nature.

Aldehyde and ketones are electrophilic in nature because the carbon bonded to oxygen with a double bond bear a small positive charge and hence this carbon is electrophilic in nature.

The reaction of electrophile with the nucleophile is the electrophilic effect.
