Gene is a basic physical and functional unit of hereditary that get transferred from parents to their progeny and decide which characteristics will progeny have. It is a functional unit of DNA. It control traits by encoding enzymes (proteins) that will act in a particular metabolic pathway to decide the characteristic of a particular individual.
