What is hyperpolarisation
Dear Student
Hyperpolarization is a change in cell's membrane potential that makes it more negative.
It is actually the opposite of a depolarization (when the membrane potential becomes less negative or we can say, more positive).
It inhibits action potentials by increasing the stimulus required to move the membrane potential to the action potential threshold.
Hyperpolarization is caused by efflux of K+ through K+ channel, or influx of Cl- through Cl- channels.
Influx of cation, inhibits hyperpolarization.
